By listening for frustration and asking questions about time thieves, Viktor Gustavsson often identifies where the focus should be placed to streamline customers' processes. As a digital business developer at Nordlo in Borås, he loves helping people work more efficiently through automation and knowledge exchange. With a background in business development and leadership, he works to create behavioural changes and understanding of new ways of working.
At Nordlo in Borås, I work as a digital business developer, which means I spend a lot of time streamlining internal processes for our clients. This could involve automating processes or increasing knowledge and understanding of a new tool or method of working. By listening for frustrations and asking questions about what time thieves exist, one often finds where focus should be placed. I love helping people and contributing so they can work even more efficiently in their respective areas of expertise.
I don't believe that knowledge transfer necessarily has to involve meeting in person; one can just as easily learn from each other online through pedagogical content. This is something I am currently working on for our clients and something I want to work even more on in the future.
Before I came to Nordlo, I tried several different types of roles. Primarily, I have worked with business development, but also digital marketing and leadership. Prior to that, I studied Key Account Management at the Sales and Marketing Academy in Gothenburg.
It's difficult to say what a typical workday looks like for me as the days vary greatly. Among other things, I conduct workshops and training sessions with our clients, build automated workflows, and simplify and streamline document management.
When I visit a client, I always try to contribute from an outside perspective and help the client understand the value of the tools they have and how they can use them even more intelligently to make their operations more efficient. Often, they have rigid rules about how things should be done, and I try to challenge those thought processes. A typical workday for me is simply a delightful mix of various enjoyable tasks!
Nordlo has a very flat organisation where individuals are allowed to think for themselves and make their own decisions. I also think it is a forward-thinking organisation that is open to new ideas, which I appreciate a lot.
In Borås, we have different groups that one can voluntarily sign up for. The groups have different focuses such as; corporate culture, training, and IT security. We have this to better address questions regarding how we should take responsibility, our values at the office, how we retain knowledge within the organisation, etc. This allows everyone the opportunity to influence how our workplace should function, which I think is great.
We also take an annual trip together if we meet our goals and additionally have both kick-offs and after works. Several people in the office also play padel together in their free time, and I think we have a very nice community!
Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to how our workplace should function, which I think is good.
Some customers blindly fixate on a tool that they believe will revolutionise the entire company. One challenge then becomes getting them to understand that much more needs to change than that, to create an understanding that a behavioural change will also be required.
If our customers purchase consulting hours and licenses for various tools and then do not understand that they themselves must contribute to a changed way of working, we risk failing to create a behavioural change and an infusion of new knowledge. It may then be perceived that the implementation has made no difference. Simplified, one can describe the challenge as getting customers to understand that they need the hole in the wall – not the drill.
There is a lot of expertise within the organisation that one can benefit from, and for my part, it is very developmental and inspiring to learn more. I also find it enjoyable to feel the drive from my colleagues. It makes me curious and fuels my desire to learn new things.
I believe that Nordlo is a suitable workplace for those who are curious, proactive, and empathetic. There are so many skills and people within the organisation, so if you have empathy and understanding for others, it will benefit you greatly.
I perceive Nordlo as a values-based company. By that, I mean that you need to feel that you want to add value to customers and the organisation, and not just be interested in selling products.
I believe that Nordlo is a suitable workplace for those who are curious, forward-thinking, and empathetic.
One challenge for the industry is that it is currently very male-dominated. I believe that the IT industry needs to bring in more women and people from diverse backgrounds to create greater diversity and benefit from broader knowledge.
With close collaboration and good operational insight in focus, we have created many long-term and successful customer relationships across several industries.
