From intern to senior consultant specialising in network and IT security – Daniel Ryens' development at Nordlo shows how one can grow within the organisation. Since 2015, he has focused entirely on security solutions such as firewalls, encryption, and endpoint protection, and he thrives best when facing new challenges that require him to learn something entirely new.
I work as a senior consultant. Therefore, I am a technician who carries out assignments in implementation, operation, and advice within networking and IT security.
Primarily, I work with networks and IT security. This includes, among other things, firewalls, IPS, endpoint and server antivirus, encryption, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, scripts in PowerShell, password auditing and PKI.
I started as an intern in 2011, and quite soon I was able to handle my own clients and support cases. I worked for a few years with the operation of equipment for customers and had assignments as both first and second line support for companies. In 2015/2016, I shifted to focus solely on networking and security, and I have been working with this ever since.
I always start the day by checking the calendar to get an overview of the work to be done that day. Often, I am out at a client as I work with the operation of data centres and infrastructure for them. I also work proactively, looking for opportunities to improve and strengthen our solutions to enhance their security.
Then I also work proactively and look for opportunities to improve and strengthen our solutions to enhance their security.
What is most developmental for me at work is when I encounter new problems that I have not faced before. When I do not know how to solve the problem right away, it requires me to learn something new.
