Ståle Gismervik

Hello Ståle! Tell us a bit about your role at Nordlo.

I am responsible for the purchasing and sales of IT equipment as well as the setup and delivery of computers. I am in charge of purchasing, website management, and make sure to organise everything and jump in when needed. The best part of the role is that I have the freedom to structure my day as I wish. Of course, I have to consider the tasks I am given, but since I have control over the installation of the computers for many of our clients, I know the systems well.

The best thing about the role is that I have the freedom to organise my day as I wish.

What does a working day look like for you?

It's varied. Some days involve a lot of travel, while others are quieter. If it's calm, I have the opportunity to train during the working day, but I usually do it before work. I also like to handle orders and other tasks in the evening. I spend a lot of time visiting clients.

What have you worked on previously?

I have been a self-employed entrepreneur for 14 years and have programmed some websites and solutions. I started as a small business with two employees, and eventually took over both ownership, operations and technical support myself. It was hectic times. I have programmed web solutions and websites. Before that, I worked as a salesperson and department manager focusing on retail sales of IT equipment.

What is Nordlo like as a workplace?

Nordlo is a great place to work. Especially for me, given the freedom it provides to often manage my own day-to-day activities. Additionally, you get to take part in deciding most things. What is special about Nordlo is that there are constantly new challenges and tasks. We learn a lot while we work.

What is special about Nordlo is that there are constantly new challenges and tasks.

What challenges you in your everyday life at Nordlo?

Every day you get to be a detective. It's not always the case that I have the answers to the tasks I face, but fortunately I have colleagues who can help out then.

What do you do besides Nordlo?

I work on my own websites and am the administrator for some websites for an organisation in Texas. In addition, I train, spend time with family, or watch TV and films.

What challenges do you see for the industry in the future?

In the future, there will be an even greater need for IT security. The biggest challenge will be how users can best protect themselves and become aware of how to deal with the threats that arise.
