A customer portal that is supposed to support the business, but an IT environment that is not keeping up? TKL needed speed, security and control. Nordlo gathered everything in its own cloud environment and automated processes – making daily life easier and ensuring reliable operations.

The global transport company TKL Logistic needed a reliable full-service partner to manage the company’s IT needs, as the solutions that were in place could not be scaled up and adapted to the company's growth rate. They also did not provide sufficient security for either operations or data protection. When the company began its digitalisation journey, one of the goals was to develop a customer portal, where freight orderers from around the world could log in to order, manage, and track freight orders.
The collaboration began with a feasibility study in which TKL's entire IT platform was examined and analysed with a focus on security, efficiency, and scalability, as well as how these parameters matched the company's specific needs. The result of the feasibility study confirmed the need for a new, customised, secure, and scalable service that could manage the operations of all of TKL's systems and become an optimised and secure platform for the customer portal.
Our vision is to digitalise the logistics industry and work towards simplifying a rather complicated sector. In short, we want to streamline the everyday life for our customers. We chose Nordlo because they presented a setup that worked well for our operations and vision.
One of the first measures was to move all of TKL's data, systems and applications — which were previously on individual, shared remote servers — to a single cloud environment where the risks of contamination are minimised and where good control over the entire IT infrastructure is achieved.
The existing solution was not optimal, partly because many different types of data and systems were stored in a shared environment, which exposed the data. In TKL's new cloud-based server environment, the data storage has been segmented, which also allows for the capacity of individual parts of the systems to be increased as needed.
A concrete example of how Nordlo could quickly streamline TKL's operations was by digitising and automating the invoice flow. Today, approximately 80,000 supplier invoices can be managed digitally and virtually, with minimal need for human resources.
Today, 100 percent of TKL's data, systems and applications are in the cloud, on virtual, scalable database servers, so-called Elastic Pools. The digital customer portal, which currently has around 500 active users worldwide, can thanks to the elasticity of the cloud databases grow organically while operation and security have been ensured through collaboration with Nordlo.
One of our requirements for a long-term IT partner is presence and the ability to trust that support works, both remotely and locally. Nordlo, like TKL, has an office in Jönköping, which has contributed to deepening and simplifying the collaboration.
We aim to be the best in transport and logistics, we acquire the expertise from Nordlo as they are the best in IT.
The solution gives TKL room to grow. Thanks to the adaptive system, they can be agile, adding, removing, increasing or decreasing system capacity according to need and usage, something that has proven to have major effects on costs and results. For TKL's customers, the positive results are also significant, which is clearly evident from customer satisfaction. Through the customer portal, more customers can now manage their freight orders themselves, which simplifies their daily operations.
We can quickly see trends and changes and based on that, we can enhance performance or temporarily adjust capacity. We can also monitor portal users' patterns and adjust according to customers' booking behaviour. This gives TKL a significant competitive advantage as a logistics partner.
