Challenge
New company without IT environment needed fast establishment
In the summer of 2016, Cyclife Sweden was without an IT environment. French EDF, Électricité de France, had just acquired the waste division of Studsvik and formed the company. The need to quickly create a functioning IT environment was significant.
We needed to get back on track quickly, we didn't take anything with us from the old Studsvik Nuclear AB.
Solution
Cloud-based comprehensive solution with security in focus from day one
With the help of Nordlo, Cyclife has built its IT environment from the ground up and is now a full-service customer in operations, support, networking, licensing, computers, and more. Much is cloud-based, to easily communicate between devices and Cyclife's parent company Cyclife Holding/EDF.
“Everything really works well, it is a stable IT environment that is primarily modern. For example, we were very early adopters of multi-factor authentication, MFA, and Office365.”
Urban Lind is the sole IT person. This means that Nordlo effectively becomes Cyclife's external IT department. “We have regular check-in and development meetings about where we are heading as a company and what is needed from Nordlo. It is evident that Nordlo knows us, with employees who have the right technical background to understand our environment, which we appreciate immensely.”
As security is high on Cyclife's agenda, they regularly conduct various tests of the IT environment, such as vulnerability scans or simulated ransomware and phishing attacks, with Nordlo's help. Any potential security threats are addressed immediately. Once a week, a technician from Nordlo is on-site at Cyclife, while the rest of IT operations and support is handled remotely.
Regular Security Training
Nordlo also trains Cyclife's employees. Every month, staff receive emails with tips on current security threats, such as increases in phishing attacks. All employees also undergo a shorter digital course (micro-courses) and answer IT-related security questions, such as how to create strong passwords or assess how secure a domain is. "Nordlo has everything you need. And if something comes up, they are right there to support you."

This makes everyone in our organisation feel secure,” says Urban Lind, Head of IT at Cyclife Sweden.
Since the company was established in 2016, Cyclife has nearly doubled its workforce. The company is currently in the process of building a new factory and plans to increase by an additional 100 employees within two to three years. “Nordlo helps us grow. Everything is already prepared; we have been planning for a long time and today have a dynamic IT environment that allows us to scale up or down quickly as needed.”
