Uniwater and Nordlo have grown together as companies with offices in both Sweden and Norway during their over ten-year partnership. With the ambition to become the leading player in VA infrastructure in the Nordic region, Uniwater needs a coordinated and efficient IT environment that supports the growth journey, where Nordlo acts as an external IT department with full outsourcing of operations, support, and security services.

Being a group with the ambition to become the leading player in the Nordic region within water and sewage infrastructure has its challenges. With acquisitions at both national and international levels, it is challenging to create a coordinated IT environment where everyone has the right access to shared spaces and environments, while another challenge is to get everyone on board and create a way of working that aligns with the group-wide IT strategy.
The goal is to consolidate into a whole that is efficient and cost-effective so that everyone is not working in different systems and duplicating efforts. This is partly about streamlining everyday life in a coordinated IT environment and avoiding duplicate work for satisfied employees and achieved business goals, but also about being a modern company and an attractive employer that appeals to recent graduates with various educational backgrounds.
The collaboration began in Ronneby in Blekinge over ten years ago, where Nordlo, despite expansion for both parties, has remained a close partner with whom Uniwater has been able to grow together. The more the business grows, the more resources are made available, where Nordlo addresses issues and prioritises the customer, which, combined with a solid understanding of operations, means that the team always sees what needs to be developed or updated to match the growth.
Today, Nordlo is working with Uniwater to enable expansion through acquisitions and new employees in a smooth manner. "We are working on finding solutions that can coordinate all IT, so that everyone is not on different systems and working redundantly. The goal is to consolidate into a whole that is effective and cost-efficient," says Johannes Samuelsson, Sales Manager at Nordlo.
Nordlo delivers operations, security solutions, IT infrastructure, support, license management, networking, as well as development and digitisation services, where the team also manages all contact with system providers and other third-party suppliers.
Nordlo captures our questions and it is clear that they prioritise us as a customer.
The close partnership that has lasted over time has resulted in the team at Nordlo being well-acquainted with the business and its needs, allowing them to act as advisors on work processes and investments with a high degree of trust.
Working on the planning and construction of water and sewage infrastructure means delivering a critical community service with high safety requirements. Nordlo supports Uniwater in cybersecurity efforts and ensures compliance with laws and industry-specific regulations, and by the end of the year, the updated EU directive NIS2 will come into force with stricter requirements for security testing, risk and incident management, as well as reporting for critical infrastructure actors.
Nordlo will review the network environment in the coming year based on a Zero Trust framework, work on information classification, and begin to look at smarter management of devices for Uniwaters' operations. The largest project ahead will be to automate the flow for onboarding and offboarding, where a lot is underway in the next year with continued growth and development together.
Uniwater is a group consisting of 13 specialist companies in water and wastewater infrastructure.
