Parken Zoo is one of Sweden's most visited excursion destinations and therefore has high demands on an IT provider that delivers a reliable comprehensive solution. When Parken Zoo became privately owned, they decided to replace the infrastructure to optimise operations, and after a procurement process won by Nordlo, they were tasked with delivering a complete IT solution.
Solution
Comprehensive solution with wireless network and surveillance cameras for animal care
Nordlo takes over and creates a comprehensive solution for all IT operations at Parken Zoo, where infrastructure, servers, and computers for the staff are replaced and updated to create a more sustainable environment. Nordlo is also expanding Parken Zoo's network with wireless links to communication points, making the network more accessible and capable of functioning over a larger area.
Nordlo is also installing surveillance cameras inside the animal enclosures so that the animal caretakers can always see how the animals are doing and what they are doing without disturbing them. This is particularly important as much of the animal caretakers' work involves studying animal behaviour. The videos can be accessed both via computers and a mobile app to increase flexibility for the staff.
If they notice that we are present, it can affect their behaviour. Therefore, it is really good that we can use this technology. Being able to go back and look at recorded material and see what happens when we are not there is really good. Now we can sit at a computer and study the animals directly or via recorded material.
There is a lot of technology that needs to work for us who work here, and if something goes wrong or doesn't work, we always get help from an IT consultant incredibly quickly.
