Holtab and Nordlo have built a partnership since 2009 that has grown alongside the power transmission company's more than doubled revenue. As one of the Nordic region's leading providers of power transmission solutions, Holtab's connection to the grid places high demands on IT security, while the small IT department needs strategic support to manage rapid expansion.

The partnership between Nordlo and the power transmission company Holtab began in 2009 and since then, the collaboration has grown strong while Holtab has more than doubled its revenue. Since the collaboration started, Holtab has grown by over 100 percent, from Tingsryd near Växjö to establishing new production facilities in Lidhult and Olofström as well as sales offices in Denmark and Finland.
"Besides personnel, IT is the most important for the business. In relation to Holtab's revenue, the IT department is quite small so hiring Nordlo makes us feel secure. Their consultants possess great knowledge and take a strategic role which gives us time to keep the business running," says Erik Ekström, IT technician at Holtab.
As Holtab's products are connected to the power grid, safety is a prioritized issue, while establishment in new countries and the start-up of new facilities imposes high demands on the IT department to provide the organisation with the right tools.
Today, Nordlo provides all IT except business systems to the company, which gives Erik Ekström, IT technician, and Carl Moberg, Application Specialist, at Holtab's IT department the freedom to take responsibility for overarching issues and help the company achieve faster expansion.
Nordlo delivers everything from digital workplaces, server operations, networks, telephony, and security, where the model of IT as a service provides Holtab with great benefits and a whole new level of scalability. "It also fits a growing company like Holtab well, where we adapt to what the company needs at the moment – while also being involved in planning for the future," says Andreas Friman, sales representative at Nordlo in Växjö and Ljungby.
When hiring, Holtab uses the self-service portal to register a request for what they need, then Nordlo prepares everything from licenses to hardware and delivers it installed and ready.
For just over a year now, Holtab and Nordlo have been conducting extensive cybersecurity work that was initiated with a workshop and a clear timeline. The security work includes backups and clear action plans for incidents, while Nordlo conducts regular training with Holtab's employees.
"Holtab wants to be at the forefront of what is considered safe. It is a constantly evolving work, with new dangers, both external and internal risks regarding how individuals handle data. The work done over the year has significantly increased security. The next major step is to get started with End-Point Detection, where we can detect threats in real-time."
Holtab wants to be at the forefront of IT security. Nordlo is a natural partner that always takes a strategic role in projects.
Today, Nordlo is involved in most of Holtab's IT operations, with meetings between Holtab and Nordlo occurring every two weeks according to Nordlo's collaboration model. "The personal contact and Nordlo's deep expertise in all areas are distinctive. Nordlo helps us keep the business running, providing great security and allowing us to focus on other tasks."
The security mindset goes hand in hand with the desire and need to act proactively. "For us, it's about constantly thinking about how the company will look in 3–5 years from a business perspective; the decisions and investments we make today have a significant impact on the company going forward. It's a challenge, and we are glad to have Nordlo as a strategic partner who is always available," says Carl Moberg, Application Specialist at Holtab.
Our products are relevant in the market with increased electrification and a fossil-free society. The investments we make today are important for the future, and here Nordlo is a perfect partner.
