Personal contact and close cooperation crucial in choosing an IT provider

The challenge

When the private equity firm Axcel acquires the roofing and waterproofing businesses in Trelleborg and Lemminkäinen, the company Nordic Waterproofing is created. It quickly becomes one of Europe's leading suppliers in the industry, with products characterized by high quality adapted to local climate conditions and building standards.

One of the challenges for Nordic Waterproofing was to migrate the IT environment from the previous owners and then start focusing on the IT issues that came with the acquisition from Axcel.

“For me, Nordlo is a major IT partner that still operates locally. They feel close to us and communication is always clear, which creates a collaboration that works very well and provides a personal contact”

Magnus Gohed, CIO at Nordic Waterproofing.

The solution

With Nordlo's help, the move of the IT environment was both smooth and efficient. Since then, the deal has developed into a long-term, close partnership in which Nordlo has become a partner to the entire group. The sense of closeness and personal contact has been crucial for Nordic Waterproofing.

“We've tried other large IT suppliers where we didn't get the same personalized feeling and closeness, which doesn't work for us,” says Magnus Gohed, CIO at Nordic Waterproofing.

Nordlo operates the central systems at group level in its own data centre and helps with the service desk and IT infrastructure, such as network solutions and server operations. Nordlo also provides the same services to Nordic Waterproofing's local companies in Sweden and, largely, to the Danish companies.

“For me, Nordlo is a major IT partner that still operates locally. They feel close to us, and communication is always clear, which creates a collaboration that works very well and provides a personal contact. We like that, and that's why we continue to choose Nordlo,” Magnus Gohed continues.

Nordic Waterproofing works with a decentralised business model, which means that the Group sets certain rules and regulations to be followed, but that each company is largely self-managed. This means that they are free to choose the business systems and solutions that suit them and that best support the local operations and business model. Some of the companies want to use the same system, and for these companies Nordlo has helped to set up a joint Office 365 solution with an AD (Active Directory) to control authorisations and access to shared systems.

Benefits

For Nordic Waterproofing, the partnership means that they can focus on their core business and hand over IT-related issues directly to Nordlo.

“Buying IT solutions as a service gives us peace of mind. It means that we don't have to make major investments and have our own staff but can instead put it in the hands of Nordlo, which handles it in an exemplary manner. We get fast service and help, which makes Nordlo the perfect partner for us. That's why we've stayed with them for so many years and want to continue working together in the future.” concludes Magnus Gohed.
