Nordlo helps Holtab stay at the forefront of safety
Fourteen years of co-operation
The partnership between Nordlo and power transmission company Holtab began back in 2009. Since then, the co-operation between the parties has grown strongly and Holtab has more than doubled its turnover. Today, Nordlo supplies all IT except business systems to the company.
The partnership gives Erik Ekström, IT Manager, and Carl Moberg, Application Specialist, in Holtab's IT department the freedom to take responsibility for overall issues and help the company to expand more rapidly. As Holtab's products are connected to the electricity grid, security is a priority. Holtab is one of the Nordic region's leading suppliers of power transmission solutions, with products such as substations, distribution centres, technical buildings and low-voltage switchgear.
"Apart from personnel, IT is the most important part of the business. In relation to Holtab's turnover, the IT department is quite small, so using Nordlo gives us peace of mind. Their consultants have a wealth of knowledge and take a strategic role, which gives us time to keep the business running smoothly," says Erik Ekström, IT Manager at Holtab.
“Holtab wants to be at the forefront of IT security. Nordlo is a natural partner that always takes a strategic role in projects”
Effective IT helps
Holtab plan for the future
Since the partnership began, Holtab has grown by over 100 per cent, from Tingsryd near Växjö to establishing new production facilities in Lidhult and Olofström, as well as sales offices in Denmark and Finland.
"Establishing operations in new countries and setting up new plants places high demands on the IT department to provide the organisation with the right tools. Nordlo acts as a strategic adviser on all IT-related issues."
IT as a service supports Holtab's growth journey
Today, Nordlo delivers everything from digital workplaces, server operations, networks, telephony and security. The IT as a service model is of great benefit to Holtab.
"It gives customers a whole new level of scalability. It also suits an expanding company like Holtab, where we adapt to what the company needs now - while helping to plan for the future," says Andreas Friman, salesman at Nordlo in Växjö and Ljungby.
For new hires, for example, Holtab uses the self-service portal to register a case about what they need. Nordlo then prepares everything from licences to hardware and delivers it installed and ready.
Staying at the forefront of IT security
For just over a year now, Holtab and Nordlo have been carrying out a major cybersecurity programme. The work was initiated with a workshop and a clear timetable. The security work includes backups and clear action plans for incidents. Nordlo also runs regular training programmes for Holtab employees.
"Holtab wants to be at the forefront of what is considered safe. This is a constantly evolving endeavour, with new hazards, both external and internal, affecting how individuals handle data. The work done this year has significantly increased security. The next big step is to get started with End-Point-Detection, where we can detect threats in real time."
Proactivity lays the foundation for the future
Security thinking goes hand in hand with the willingness and need to be proactive.
"For our part, it is important to constantly think about how the company will look in 3-5 years from a business perspective, the decisions and investments we make today have a major impact on the company going forward. It's a challenge, and we're happy to have Nordlo as a strategic partner that's always available," says Carl Moberg, Application Specialist at Holtab.
With personal contact
Today, Nordlo is involved in most of Holtab's IT operations. Meetings between Holtab and Nordlo take place every two weeks, according to Nordlo's co-operation model.
"The personal contact and the fact that Nordlo has in-depth knowledge in all areas is what sets us apart. Nordlo helps us to keep the business running smoothly, which gives us great peace of mind and allows us to focus on other tasks."
"Our products are relevant in the market with increased electrification and a fossil-free society. The investments we're making today are important for the future, and Nordlo is the perfect partner for us," says Erik Ekström, IT Manager at Holtab.
