Nordlo helps
Falköpings Municipality with digital initiative for high quality
dementia care
Challenge
Major changes are currently taking place in Falköping municipality's care for the elderly including the construction of new accommodations. The latest is the completion of accommodation for the elderly in Tåstorp aimed at dementia care. Such accommodation was previously spread across several geographical locations within the municipality, but the goal was always to bring together the highly skilled workforce in one single place.
In conjunction with the new construction, the municipality wanted to create an environment that offers safe, secure surroundings where users are stimulated, and which provides activities in a comfortable, homelike setting. This is aimed at engendering greater well-being, resulting in a reduced care requirement. A central part of this work was to bring about a well-functioning IT environment in which Nordlo played an important role as the contractor.
"The technological solutions are put to use in a smart way to make life easier for everyone while also providing safety, security and safeguarding previously. We’re incredibly pleased with the results of our collaboration and with the solutions developed."
The solution
Nordlo Skaraborg provided the personnel with new computers, it delivered and installed audiovisual equipment and a printer solution. The AV equipment comprises screens and conference room equipment, projectors, a control panel for the lecture room and equipment for Barco ClickShare wireless image transfer. It also includes digital information screens controlled and scheduled by means of the Playipp platform.
In order to raise the quality of living, a number of different digital solutions were created including video conferencing equipment in one of the conference rooms. In the room, users can get in touch digitally with relatives who live further away. In another solution, every department has a screen connected to Apple TV. Habitually watching "negative" news and events can create unease among dementia patients, but with Apple TV it's possible these days to show customized news instead.
"We’re proud and happy to have helped Tåstorp and Falköping municipality with products and services, and it's also gratifying that the public sector is bold enough to invest in practical, digital solutions for day-to-day life. It's been interesting helping Falköping Municipality develop smart technologies that are able to improve the residents' peace of mind while making the working day easier for the staff," says Jan Doverfors, Sales Manager at Nordlo Skaraborg.
A typical example of a solution created to help staff are the smart thermal cameras now used in residents' rooms to detect abnormal behaviour and raise the alarm if necessary. This helps avoid the risk of residents having accidents. Personnel also have telephone access to alarm functions and information about the administration of medications. There is now a screen in the entrance to provide general information to visitors, and there is a digital screen in each department with information about e.g. the day's activities and menu.
Customer value
Day-to-day work has been simplified for staff through digitized and more efficient working methods and new information solutions. Screens in staff rooms show information about e.g. human resources and the manning roster. On arrival, there is also a central information screen that informs personnel where they will be working and what their current assignments are.
With Nordlo's help, Tåstorp is now able to offer a fantastic environment for personnel and users alike. The technological solutions are put to use in a smart way to make life easier for everyone while also safeguarding privacy and providing safety and security. We’re incredibly pleased with the results of our collaboration and with the solutions developed," says Kerstin Jangbrand, Unit Manager at Falköping Municipality.
