Hi Kjetil! Tell us a little about your role.

I work as project manager in relation to setting up new customers, and as senior system consultant at Nordlo in Haugesund, where I’ve been for 15 years. My focus areas are server operation, various forms of public cloud, information security, authorisation systems, virtual servers and productivity tools.

What does a working day look like for you?

A normal working day for me is largely about planning and preparations in relation to setting up new customers. As a senior system consultant I also provide support when it comes to more technically advanced problems that arise. I also help our customers with their challenges, and I consider it a good opportunity to provide guidance and training to my colleagues at junior level.

What have you worked with previously?

Before I started as a system consultant, I spent ten years working as team leader and repairing computers. I really appreciate the experience I have in my daily work, as it feels as if I understand all the components and parts in a more detailed way than would otherwise be the case.

What is it like working at Nordlo?

I really like my workplace. We have a good team spirit in the office, and it’s fun to go to work! What I appreciate most, and what is most developing for me, is the influence you have around well thought-out choices and configurations. When you have an interest in technology like I have, freedom to make choices is incredibly important to create the right, customised solutions.

What do you do on your spare time?

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have children who are active with floorball and football, and I like keeping an eye on their activities. Otherwise I take a keen interest in music, mainly heavy metal. I also spend a lot of my free time on my computer, I just can’t get away from it!

What challenges do you see in the industry for the future?

The biggest challenge our industry is facing in the future, I think it will be the transition to hybrid or Cloud Only. For many companies, it can be difficult to understand all the benefits that cloud solutions bring, and here it’s our job to give our customers an understanding of how important this both is and will be in the future. I have tremendous faith in a more cloud-based future, and in many cases the future is already here. When I talk with our customers about the transition to the cloud, it’s really important for me to focus on security and create solutions in which the customer feels safe when working.
